Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for flight control systems, including autopilots and mission systems. You will deploy to target hardware and perform real-world flight tests near Bedfordshire, presenting results to customers when required.

The role requires a degree in aerospace engineering, experience with MATLAB/Simulink, and a National Security Vetting clearance; you will work in a multidisciplinary team within Saab Blue Bear,

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics, and their impact on flight control.
• Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and verification/validation.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight testing near the office.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Contribute to SOC and quality improvements in processes and methods.
