Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is recruiting a part-time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Glasgow Community Stroke Team. You will manage a clinical caseload autonomously and deliver SLT across the stroke recovery pathway, working within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires stroke experience, dysphagia training, HCPC registration, and a valid UK driving licence. Agile working includes visiting clients at home within Greater Glasgow.

Qualifications

• Registered with the HCPC and current HCPC registration.
• Completion of mandatory and statutory training, including Fire Safety and Moving and Handling.
• Highly specialist knowledge in Speech and Language Therapy for stroke.
• Ability to supervise, support and develop staff.
• Knowledge of healthcare governance, audit and evidence-based practice.
• Good working knowledge of computer systems and applications.
• Well-developed organisational and observational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Current UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Be clinically and legally accountable for own work and patient care within scope of practice.
• Assess capacity and gain valid consent where needed.
• Independently assess and plan SLT intervention for stroke patients.
• Manage an identified caseload and coordinate MDT goal planning.
• Communicate and collaborate to maximise patient care and MDT functioning.
• Screen referrals and conduct baseline assessments across professions.
• Keep up to date with developments through CPD and training.
• Contribute to in-service training and dissemination of knowledge.
• Provide specialist advice and education to staff, relatives and carers.
