Elevation Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established business in Burnley to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager who will own end-to-end payroll and help shape the finance function’s evolution.

You will manage payroll for <500 employees, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance while driving improvements to processes and controls as the organisation grows. The role offers autonomy and a platform to influence payroll operations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing payroll within a business of similar size or complexity.
• Strong, up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Confident working with payroll software and systems.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end payroll processing for <500 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage
• Ensuring full compliance with current payroll legislation, tax, pension auto-enrolment, and statutory requirements
• Overseeing statutory payments, deductions, and year-end payroll processes
• Acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries from employees and management
• Liaising closely with HR to ensure employee data, contracts, and changes are reflected accurately in payroll
• Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and controls as the business grows
• Supporting compensation and benefits administration where required
• Assisting with audits and ensuring robust record-keeping in line with best practice
