Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to own the end-to-end payroll for around 280 employees in East Lancashire. The role offers genuine autonomy and will shape payroll processes as the business grows, with four days a week and a clear impact across Finance and HR.

You will lead from the front on payroll accuracy, compliance and system improvements, partnering with Finance and HR to optimise data and processes in a growing organisation.

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end payroll experience in a business of similar size or complexity.
• Excellent knowledge of current payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, pensions and statutory requirements.
• Strong payroll systems experience.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience improving payroll processes, systems or controls.
• Experience working closely with Finance and HR.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership of the end-to-end payroll for c.280 employees.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately, efficiently and on time.
• Manage statutory payments, deductions, pensions and year-end processes.
• Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries across the business.
• Work with HR to reflect employee data and changes in payroll.
• Review and improve payroll processes, systems, and controls.
• Support compensation and benefits activities as required.
• Assist with audits and maintain robust payroll records and controls.
