Sharp Consultancy in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Standalone Payroll Manager to own the end-to-end payroll function. The role offers autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact in a growing business.

You will manage monthly payroll, ensure HMRC compliance, and deliver accurate payroll data to stakeholders while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate has strong UK payroll knowledge and can work independently.

Qualifications

• Solid experience managing payroll independently.
• Experience in standalone or highly autonomous payroll roles.
• Excellent knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage priorities.
• Excellent communication skills with employees and senior stakeholders.
• Proactive in identifying improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full end-to-end payroll process from start to finish.
• Own monthly payroll and ensure timely, accurate payments.
• Handle payroll legislation, statutory payments, deductions and reporting.
• Ensure HMRC and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain payroll records and resolve queries efficiently.
• Manage starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, benefits.
• Produce payroll reports for stakeholders.
• Support payroll projects and process improvements.
• Act as main contact for payroll queries.
