Job summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment Limited is assisting a well-established contractor in Paddock Wood, Kent to recruit an experienced Design Manager. You will own the design function for your projects, coordinating with architects, engineers and subcontractors to deliver buildable, compliant information on schedule.

The role requires autonomy, strong organisational skills and a track record of managing design from pre-construction to completion. A permanent position with a competitive package is on offer.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager in the construction industry.
• Strong track record of independently managing the design function on your own projects.
• Experience working for a main contractor is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Taking full responsibility for the design management of allocated projects.
• Managing the design process from pre-construction through to completion.
• Developing and managing design programmes and information release schedules.
• Coordinating architects, engineers, specialists and external consultants.
• Reviewing drawings and technical information to identify issues and buildability concerns.
• Chairing design team meetings and ensuring actions are progressed.
• Managing RFIs, design changes and technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
