Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Software Developer to join the R&D team in Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, develop, and implement software for in-vehicle infotainment, ADAS, and connectivity features, collaborating with hardware engineers and product managers to deliver cutting-edge automotive technology.

The role requires strong programming skills in C++, Java, or Python, with hands-on experience in embedded systems and RTOS environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Software Developer, with a focus on embedded systems or automotive software.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages relevant to automotive development (e.g., C++, Java, Python).
• Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, MOST) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software for automotive applications, including infotainment, navigation, and ADAS features.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as C++, Java, Python, or similar.
• Collaborate with system architects and hardware engineers to define software requirements and specifications.
• Develop and integrate software modules for embedded systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve software defects.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software components.
• Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in automotive software development.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and tools.
• Document software designs, implementation details, and user guides.
