Job summary

Omega is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our manufacturing site in Darwen. The role is hands-on and focuses on delivering controls and instrumentation projects across a busy production environment.

You will plan, design, program and maintain PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, manage budgets and schedules, and work with contractors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical/Automation engineering.
• Experience as Automation/Controls/Project/Improvement Engineer in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA and instrumentation.
• Experience managing projects from design to implementation.
• Good communication and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and deliver automation projects from concept to commissioning.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets and resources.
• Program, modify and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.
• Prepare documentation and presentations.
• Support procurement and supplier selection.
• Identify and mitigate project risks.
• Drive continuous improvement across site automation.
• Provide mentorship to colleagues.
