Job summary

Omega, a world-class automotive supplier, seeks an Automation Engineer for its Bolton facility to drive production excellence. You will design and implement automated systems, improving efficiency, quality and throughput in a high-volume environment.

The role requires advanced PLC programming, fault-finding, and production engineering experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens and robotics knowledge. You will collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to deliver tangible improvements and

Qualifications

Advanced PLC programming and fault-finding expertise.
Experience implementing and maintaining PLC systems in a manufacturing setting.
Strong knowledge of robotics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
Proficient in RCCA and structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why, Fishbone).

Responsibilities

Design and implement automated processes to optimise production efficiency and throughput.
Analyse existing production processes to identify and apply effective automation technologies.
Diagnose and resolve faults in automated production processes quickly and effectively.
Manage project budgets, spare parts, and associated expenses.
Collaborate with Production Engineering and Maintenance to implement automation and ensure smooth handover to production operations.
Drive continuous development and improvement of production systems and machine performance.
Lead and support process improvements through structured improvement plans.
Propose and implement efficiency enhancements for machines and production processes.
Monitor performance and guide Production Engineers on the line.
Plan optimal process flows and operator work methods to maximise output while preserving quality.
Set targets and track benefits for project activities.
