Job summary

First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot is seeking a qualified Automotive Electrician to join the busy team. The role offers days or nights and involves diagnosing electrical faults, carrying out repairs and replacements to keep buses safe and reliable.

You will perform electrical testing, installations, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, with documentation in line with regulatory and safety standards. A UK driving licence is required and a £2,000 joining bonus is available.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance with focus on electrics.
• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Experience working on HGV/PSV is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs and replacements.
• Perform scheduled electrical testing and installations.
• Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance.

Position: Automotive Electrician

Location: Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, G42 7BH

We are now looking for an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Automotive Electrician to join the busy team at our First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot. We have two shift patterns available - days or nights! We would love to hear from qualified candidates with great automotive electrical knowledge and any ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Dayshift

• £21.54 per hour
• Minimum 37 hours per week
• £ 41,442 per annum
• 5 days over 7 (including 1 weekend in 3)
• 6am-2pm
• £2,000 joining bonus!

Further pay increase scheduled for April 2027

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled electrical testing and any installations, routine inspections andpreventative maintenance. You'll also make sureall documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• A Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair with a focus on electrics
• Experience working on HGV or PSV would be beneficial
• A valid UK driving licence
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics
