Job summary

FirstGroup plc is seeking an Automotive Electrician for Caledonia Depot in Glasgow. The role is dayshift, 6am-2pm, with a £2,000 joining bonus and a 37-hour week. You will diagnose faults, repair electrical systems, and maintain documentation to standards.

Ideal candidates hold Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in electrics, have HGV/PSV experience, a UK licence, and a keen eye for detail. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance with a focus on electrics.
• Experience working on HGV or PSV would be beneficial.
• A valid UK driving licence.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs on fleet vehicles.
• Replace parts when needed and conduct routine inspections.
• Perform scheduled electrical testing and installations.
• Ensure documentation complies with regulations and health and safety standards.

Position: Automotive Electrician

Dayshift

• £21.54 per hour
• Minimum 37 hours per week
• £ 41,442 per annum
• 5 days over 7 (including 1 weekend in 3)
• 6am-2pm
• £2,000 joining bonus!

Further pay increase scheduled for April 2027

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled electrical testing and any installations, routine inspections and preventative maintenance. You'll also make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• A Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair with a focus on electrics
