Job summary

First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot is seeking an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualified Automotive Electrician for the nightshift at Caledonia Depot, with two shift patterns available (days or nights). The role requires strong automotive electrical knowledge and may suit ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship.

Nightshift details include £24.07 per hour, minimum 37 hours per week, 4 nights per week (1 weekend in 3), 8pm-6am, and a £2,000 joining bonus.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair with a focus on electrics
• Experience working on HGV or PSV would be beneficial
• A valid UK driving licence
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults, complete repairs and replace parts as needed.
• Carry out scheduled electrical testing and installations, routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards

Position: Automotive Electrician - Nightshift

Location: Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, G42 7BH

We are now looking for an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Automotive Electrician to join the busy team at our First Bus Glasgow Caledonia Depot. We have two shift patterns available - days or nights! We would love to hear from qualified candidates with great automotive electrical knowledge and any ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Nightshift

• £24.07 per hour


• Minimum 37 hours per week


• £ 46,310 per annum


• 4 nights per week (1 weekend in 3)


• 8pm-6am


• £2,000 joining bonus!

Further pay increase scheduled for April 2027.

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled electrical testing and any installations, routine inspections andpreventative maintenance. You'll also make sureall documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For
