Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enrich the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.

Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’. We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over national and regional awards! We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role: Are you a positive and motivated person who loves going the extra mile to improve the lives of others?

Is it important for you to have a satisfying job where you feel supported?

If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you’ve been looking for!

At our Gateshead service we support a young gentleman with severe Autism and a learning disability, who is non-verbal and profoundly deaf, to live the best life possible by providing person-centred support to promote his independence. Due to the support he requires, someone experienced in supporting a person with complex Autism would be ideal.

The individual we support receives 2:1 support during the day, with a waking night and sleepover overnight. He enjoys spending time outside, particularly circling his garden for stimulation. He enjoys mealtimes and will let you know when he's ready to eat by bringing you his tray. The young man we support enjoys minimal community engagement and enjoys his own space and his own company. Routine and structure are very important to him and ensuring he feels calm and comfortable. His staff provide support with everyday living, with things like personal care, medication administration, financial planning, preparing meals and engaging in fun activities. We are looking for a flexible and reliable person to join the team, who is keen to support this young man to build independent living skills and ensure he is heard and supported to make his own choices.

We provide support from Monday - Sunday and are currently recruiting for a 37.5 hour post. Our shifts include:

  • 8am - 8pm
  • 8am - 11pm + sleepover
  • 8pm - 8am (waking night)
All staff are expected to work some overnights and weekends on a rota basis. One of the values of Community Integrated Care is our passion for our people and every year we invest in our front-line worker pay in line with the Living Wage increase each April. Our promise has always been clear: we will do everything in our power to improve pay for colleagues. And so, if you start with us between now and 31 March your pay with be £11.94 and then from the 1st April, this will increase to £12.62. Your values:

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.

Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to us, so we look for people with:

  • Patience
  • Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
  • A strong work ethic
  • Reliability
  • Honesty
  • Determination
