Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an Autism Support Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Grays, starting immediately. You will support pupils with ASC, MLD and SLCN, helping them access the curriculum and develop communication, social and independence skills.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups alongside teachers and therapists, using tailored strategies to meet individual learning needs and to foster a nurturing, inclusive learning environment for every pupil.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Understanding of Autism and communication difficulties.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable.
  • Confident supporting pupils with learning difficulties and additional needs.
  • Genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Autism Support Assistant - Specialist SEND School - Grays | Immediate Start

We are working with a fantastic specialist SEND school in Grays that is looking to appoint a caring and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their team immediately.

The school supports pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), with many students also having a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Students benefit from a highly structured and supportive environment where communication, independence, social development, and emotional wellbeing are at the heart of daily learning.

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to help pupils access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and build confidence both academically and socially. You may provide support on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, using strategies tailored to each student's individual learning needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
