Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant in a primary school in Bristol to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with ASD and a PDA profile. You will work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals to help the child feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

You will gain hands-on experience, with TeamTeach training prior to start and ongoing consultant support. The role offers weekly PAYE pay and progression opportunities within SEND and education.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Health & Social Care or related subject.
  • Experience supporting children with ASD and PDA (through work, placements, volunteering or university).
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • At least 24 months of referenceable employment or education history.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Use strategies to help a child with ASD and PDA feel secure and engaged.
  • Support learning, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Work closely with teachers and the school's SEND team.

Job description

We're looking for a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile.

You'll work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals, learning from a knowledgeable team while helping one child feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

This role could be perfect if you have...
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Health & Social Care or a related subject.
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD and PDA, whether through work, placements, volunteering or university experience.
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • An interest in child development, SEND or inclusive education.
  • The confidence to build positive relationships with children and staff.
