Job summary

Disability North is seeking two Social Personal Assistants to support a lively 6-year-old boy, Lucas, in Byker, Newcastle. Role involves 2 hours per week during term time and 8 hours per week in school holidays, including weekends, with supervision and personal care as needed.

Pay is £14.00 per hour. A driver is preferred but not essential. You will accompany Lucas to activities, help him access the community, and ensure safety at all times as he is non-verbal and an escape artist.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with autism and challenging behaviours.
• Able to provide personal care and support, including those who are non-verbal.
• Good level of fitness and resilience for active outings.

Responsibilities

• Support Lucas in accessing local community activities.
• Supervise outings and ensure safety, using provided buggy for outings.
• Assist with personal care and communication through gestures/noises.
