Job summary

Disability North in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Female Social Personal Assistant to support a seven-year-old girl with autism, sensory processing disorder and global developmental delay. The role involves 5 hours per week during term time and 11 hours per week in school holidays, at a rate of £14.50 per hour, in the Walker area.

The position requires nonverbal communication skills, animal-friendly handling, and the ability to manage behaviors with safe de-escalation methods.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with autism.
• Experience in personal care and supervised activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including prompting to use toileting facilities and assisting with personal hygiene.
• Support Emily in daily activities at home and in the community, including kitchen tasks and play.
• Use calm voice and safety techniques to de-escalate behaviors and ensure Emily's safety at all times.
• Assist with outings and transport, including car trips with the family.
