Job summary

Leicester-based school seeks an HLTA or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to lead its Internal Alternative Provision for children with autism. You will direct a team of five teaching assistants, support non-verbal pupils, and work with the current lead to carry the provision forward.

The start date is flexible, with full-time work initially until Christmas and potential continuation if it fits well. Sprint Education provide ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or Level 3 Certificate with recent school-based experience.
• Strong knowledge of autism.
• Experience supporting non-verbal or pre-verbal pupils.
• Confident in directing and managing other adults.
• Genuine preference for SEN work over mainstream.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Internal Alternative Provision as its HLTA.
• Direct a team of five Level 2 teaching assistants.
• Support pupils with complex needs, most of whom are non-verbal or pre-verbal.
• Work alongside the current provision lead and carry their work forward.
• Help the provision settle, as some pupils are currently supported in mainstream classes.
