Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking an Autism and Learning Disability Keyworker to support children, young people and families within a neurodiversity multidisciplinary team.

Two positions are offered: part-time 30 hours per week on a 1-year fixed term contract and full-time 37 hours per week on a 1-year fixed term contract. Hybrid working with office base at civic offices in Portsmouth.

Qualifications

• Significant experience working in autism and/or learning disability services.
• Experience supporting children and young people across health, education or social care.
• Up to date professional development and relevant legislative knowledge.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills adaptable for children, parents and professionals.
• Experience coordinating multi-agency work around a child or young person.
• Ability to analyse complex information and challenge decisions professionally.
• Ability to travel to locations not easily accessible by public transport.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a caseload of children, young people and families with personalised, holistic support.
• Work with Lead Professionals to provide emotional, behavioural and practical support.
• Advocate for young people in multi-agency meetings to ensure their voices are heard.
• Coordinate multi-agency work across health, education and social care.
• Provide advice, guidance and interventions or facilitate access to further support.
• Collaborate with family support workers to offer enhanced early intervention.
• Hold services to account to ensure timely, appropriate support.
