Job summary

Autism East Midlands is seeking a Community Autism Support Worker to help autistic service users in the Derbyshire area (Chesterfield, Derby and Ripley). You will provide holistic support, promoting independence, community participation and emotional well-being, with full training given.

A full driving license and business-use insurance are required. No previous experience is necessary; the role offers development opportunities and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training provided.
• Positive attitude and willingness to develop skills.
• Experience in care roles, NHS or health/social care is welcomed.
• Must have a full driving license and be willing to have business-use insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic support including personal care and daily living activities.
• Encourage independent living and community integration for service users.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and IPC measures in the setting.
• Build positive relationships with service users, families and colleagues.
• Familiarise with Autism East Midlands systems and care processes.
• Keep accurate, secure records and comply with GDPR.
• Liaise with families, clinical teams and external agencies appropriately.
• Develop understanding of autism and implement CALM and Positive Behaviour Support.
• Complete Care Certificate and mandatory training requirements.
• Log incidents on internal reporting systems and follow care plans.
• Work flexibly to rota requirements and contract terms.
• Communicate effectively within the team to ensure continuity of care.
• Understand communication methods of those supported and adapt accordingly.
• Adhere to the Autism East Midlands Code of Conduct.
