Job summary

The Education Authority is seeking an Autism Advisory Teacher to deliver training, to offer advice and support to school staff and parents/carers, and to work directly with autistic children and young people at various educational stages. The role includes liaising with EA Officers and other agencies to coordinate support.

Qualifications

  • Be a qualified teacher recognised to teach in grant-aided schools.
  • Minimum three years’ direct teaching experience with autistic pupils.
  • Experience collaborating with professionals to support children with SEN.
  • Ability to develop and deliver evidence-based interventions in schools.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support school staff, preschool and educational settings for autistic pupils.
  • Devise and implement individualised learning programmes.
  • Provide direct pupil support and monitor progress with regular reports.
  • Develop and deliver autistic-specific training programmes for staff and parents.
  • Promote parental involvement and liaise with families and schools as needed.
  • Write educational advice under the Education Authority framework.
  • Liaise with other agencies to coordinate assessment and support.
  • Engage in CPD to keep up with current autism education approaches.
