Job summary

Howett Thorpe in Guildford is seeking an experienced Audit Manager (or ambitious Assistant Manager) to lead a growing audit team. You will manage a varied client portfolio, plan and deliver high-quality audits, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with Partners.

The role offers hybrid working and progression within a well-established practice. The successful candidate will have ACA or ACCA qualification, strong UK accounting practice experience, and excellent client-facing skills to drive

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified and UK accountancy practice experience.
• Experience managing audit assignments and teams or at Assistant Manager level with ambition.
• Strong technical knowledge across audit and budgeting.
• Excellent client management and communication skills.
• Organised and able to balance multiple deadlines.
• Mentoring and developing junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients.
• Planning audits including budgets and timescales.
• Overseeing audits from planning through to completion.
• Reviewing and signing off audit files.
• Providing feedback to the audit team and monitoring budgets.
• Serving as the lead contact for clients during the audit.
• Building strong client relationships and developing staff.
• Mentoring junior staff and delivering training.
• Delegating work and supporting Partners with complex assignments.
