Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Band 3 Assistant Patient Pathway Coordinator (Audiology) in Reading. This part-time role provides administrative support across the patient care pathway from referral to discharge, coordinating appointments and maintaining records to meet performance targets.

The post requires experience with scheduling, patient communications, and information governance. You will work within the audiology service to ensure a high-quality patient experience.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration/Customer Care or equivalent
  • GCSEs or equivalent, experience with IT systems and patient data systems
  • Experience scheduling outpatient appointments or admissions
  • Experience working with patients, providing information about appointments or treatments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Understanding of patient priorities and targets related to appointments and waiting times
  • Knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient appointments and clinic bookings.
  • Coordinate patient pathways, support waiting list management.
  • Maintain accurate records on EPR and Trust systems.
  • Manage clinic changes, cancellations and diary schedules.
  • Ensure patient records are handled in line with IG requirements.
  • Contribute to service improvements and provide cross-cover within admin team.
  • Process referrals and booking into appropriate clinics.
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments.
  • Identify delays or pathway breaches and escalate issues.
  • Maintain accurate pathway information on Trust systems.
  • Manage clinic cancellations and re-book patients within required timescales.
  • Ensure smooth progression from referral to discharge.
  • Track and manage health records in line with information governance.
  • Attend service development meetings.
