Job summary

Staffordshire County Council are seeking motivated individuals to provide outstanding care for adults with learning disabilities at The Pipers in Newcastle. The post comprises 31.5 hours per week over 4 days, with shifts Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.30pm.

You will drive adapted vehicles/minibuses, ensure safe travel, perform vehicle checks, assist with personal care and moving handling, and liaise with families. A pre-employment DBS check and enhanced health assessment are required.

Qualifications

• Current D1 driving license.
• Minimum of 3 years driving experience.
• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and autism.
• ICT skills to complete digital record keeping.
• Have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• To be able to physically assist in the personal care needs and/or behavioural support, including moving and handling and wheelchair assistance.

• Complete vehicle and equipment checks, minor routine maintenance tasks, and vehicle cleaning.
• Support with care tasks as required, including personal care and manual handling.

• You may be required to be responsible for the opening and closing of the building.

You will be expected to work flexibly across the week according to business need. Rotas are subject to change depending on business need. Although this role is based primarily at The Pipers in Newcastle, there may be times when you are expected to work flexibly across Provider Services, including different care settings, delivery approaches, and locations, as required. The post will be 31.5 hours per week over 4 days. The hours are: Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.30pm (4 days). A pre-employment health assessment and an enhanced DBS check will be required. The minimum criteria that will be used to shortlist for this role will be:

• Current D1 driving license
• Minimum of 3 years driving experience
• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and autism
• ICT skills to complete digital record keeping
• Have effective communication and interpersonal skills
• To be able to physically assist in the personal care needs and/ or the behavioural support needs of service users, which will include some moving and handling, the ability to support people who use a wheelchair in the community and the ability to support with behavioural needs.

If you already hold an NVQ level 2 qualification or Care Certificate we would love to hear from you but don't worry if not, we are happy to support you in gaining the skills and knowledge needed for this qualification. Please note that this role will require an enhanced DBS check and a pre-employment health assessment as part of the onboarding process.
