Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an Attendance Officer for a prominent secondary school in Heswall, Wirral. You will monitor and promote student attendance, liaise with DSL and EWOs, and implement effective intervention strategies across all year groups.

The role focuses on daily registration, safeguarding compliance, and reporting to the Senior Leadership Team. A full UK driving license is preferred to conduct local home visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in attendance, pastoral, or administrative roles within education or youth work.
• Proficient with SIMS/Arbor and MS Office applications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with empathy.
• Solid knowledge of national school attendance regulations, safeguarding protocols, and local authority reporting.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for local home visits (preferred).
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily morning registration processing and absence calls, logging attendance codes in SIMS/Arbor.
• Analyse attendance data to spot trends and plan targeted support for pupils.
• Organise and lead attendance meetings with parents, conduct home welfare visits, and establish attendance agreements.
• Collaborate with Education Welfare Officers and safeguarding leads on legal compliance, penalties, and proceedings.
• Prepare weekly and termly attendance statistics and reports for SLT and governors.
