Job summary

Holmleigh Park High School is seeking an Attendance Officer to lead attendance support plans, work with students and families, and support the Lead Attendance Officer in implementing attendance interventions to improve attendance. You will be the first contact for parents when students are absent, record messages, update registers, cover the Student Reception as needed, and help chase missing registers.

The role supports safeguarding and promotes inclusive practice within Greenshaw Learning

Responsibilities

• Lead attendance support plans and pastoral interventions working with students and families.
• To support the Lead Attendance Officer in implementing attendance interventions/strategies to improve students' attendance at HP.
• First contact for parents/carers when students are absent.
• Record any messages received from parents/carers regarding attendance on the registers.
• Cover the Student Reception window as required, recording any late students and updating the registers.
• Update registers from daily Line Up when required.
• Record any Preps set from Line Up or late arrivals.
• Inform Lead Attendance Officer and Heads of Year of any issues regarding daily attendance.
• Contact parents/carers if students are absent and no contact has been made.
• Check registers have been completed by teachers daily, chasing any missing registers.
• Produce Fire Registers daily after attendance has been recorded.
• Report part time timetables to the LEA when required.
• Track attendance data and use data to inform attendance interventions.
• Contact targeted students using absence data.
• Conduct attendance-focused home visits.
• Meet with parents and implement attendance action plans.
• Record requests for student holidays during term time, monitor unauthorised absences and support the Lead Attendance Officer in the preparation of fixed penalty notices
• Advise and implement the school’s Attendance Policy
• To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local and national attendance-related guidance
• During fire drills - ensure all students are accounted for
• Any other reasonable direction from the Lead Attendance Officer or members of SLT
