Job summary

Horbury Academy is seeking a proactive Attendance Officer to join our team. The role focuses on improving attendance and punctuality, supporting pupils and families, and removing barriers to regular attendance.

You will monitor attendance, investigate persistent absence, and coordinate strategies to boost outcomes. You will work with academy staff, parents, and the Education Welfare Officer to promote a culture where every day counts.

Qualifications

• Understand attendance procedures, safeguarding and child protection requirements.
• Strong administrative, organisational and ICT skills are essential.
• Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged young people in an educational setting is desirable.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse attendance patterns and identify persistent absence.
• Coordinate interventions to improve attendance outcomes.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and generate reports for leaders.
• Support home visits where appropriate and liaise with external agencies.
• Collaborate with staff, parents/carers and the Education Welfare Officer.
