Job summary

Principal Education is seeking a committed School Attendance Officer to join our team in the United Kingdom. You will monitor attendance and punctuality, engage with pupils, parents and external partners, and support strategies to improve outcomes for learners.

You will analyze attendance data, follow up absences, conduct home visits where needed, and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies. This role demands strong organisation, clear communication and a proactive, collaborative approach

• Experience in school/education or attendance-related roles would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily pupil attendance and punctuality.
• Follow up unexplained absences with parents and carers.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Identify patterns of absence, lateness and persistent absence.
• Contact and meet with parents/carers to discuss attendance concerns and support.
• Work with pastoral staff, safeguarding teams and senior leaders to improve attendance.
• Prepare attendance reports and provide accurate data to staff.
• Support the development and implementation of attendance improvement plans.
• Liaise with external agencies and professionals where appropriate.
• Conduct home visits where required and in line with school policy.
• Ensure attendance procedures comply with relevant legislation, school policies and safeguarding requirements.
• Promote the importance of regular attendance and punctuality throughout the school community.
