Job summary

Arup is expanding its Mining Centre of Excellence in the UK, seeking an Associate-level Mining Engineer/Geologist – Design Manager. This senior role combines strong technical depth with strategic thinking to deliver advisory and design work for mining and related projects across the UK, EIMEA and globally.

You will integrate multidisciplinary capabilities, lead project delivery, mentor staff, and contribute to business development and market strategy, while supporting wider infrastructure

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Significant practical experience in mining, tunnelling and underground design or operational support.
• Design and project management experience on major projects across energy, water and resources sectors.
• Track record delivering technical and advisory work in mining, tunnelling or underground excavation with hydrogeology/geophysics/geochemistry.
• Experience working on international projects.
• Experience building client relationships and contributing to winning work.
• Ability to operate independently while also working within a wider multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with mentoring or leadership experience.
• Clear interest in advancing more sustainable mining approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of advisory and technical projects spanning mining, quarrying, tunnelling and underground excavation across planning, design, development and operational support phases.
• Design and project management for major projects across the Energy, Water and Resources sector with a focus on mining, waste and materials.
• Provide technical leadership to develop mining planning and design skills and geotechnical expertise.
