Job summary

AMC Consultants (AMC) now part of AFRY is seeking a Principal Mining Engineer to join its Mining & Metals team in the UK. You will oversee technical delivery across projects, with emphasis on mine design, planning, and regulatory reporting, while building client relationships and guiding multidisciplinary teams.

The role demands senior leadership, strong problem-solving capabilities, and willingness to travel internationally to support diverse mining environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of industry experience with recognised expertise in at least one primary area.
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, passport, and ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical delivery of projects including risk and quality management.
  • Develop and deliver technical reports and client-facing documents across project phases.
  • Manage and execute mining projects with strong focus on mine planning and reserve estimation.
  • Build and maintain client relationships as part of project delivery and business development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across regional offices.

Position: Principal Mining Engineer

Location: United Kingdom

Role Overview:

We areseekingaPrincipal Mining Engineerto join ourMining & Metalsteam basedin the UKoffice.In this role, you willbe responsible forensuring thetechnical delivery of projects, including risk and quality management.The candidate should have experience inmine design anddevelopment of technical documents (reports) for key clients throughout various project execution phases (pre-feasibility, feasibility, site assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). The candidate willmaintain, build, and further develop client relationships as part of project delivery and business development.The candidate should have experience in managing and executing projects in diverse miningenvironments.

AMC cover a broad spectrum of services creating a varied and interesting array of projects to work on. Services include technical mining studies (spanning scoping, pre-feasibilityand feasibility), life of mine planning, Ore Reserve estimation, due diligence, cost estimation, reporting to JORC, NI 43-101 and similar industry codes.

Qualifications and experience

  • Possession of aBachelor’sdegree or higher qualification in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15years of industry experience, including recognisedexpertisein at least one primary area.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coupled with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A validdriverslicense, passport, and the ability to travel internationally asrequired.
  • Fluent in English – spoken and written. Secondary language skills viewed favourably.
