Associate Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre

Role Overview: The Associate Mechanical Engineer will work on the design and development of Data Centre/Mission Critical facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute from concept development through to final commissioning in a multidisciplinary environment.

Primary Objectives:
  • Assist the Group Leader in project delivery, supporting junior engineers and maintaining technical quality.
  • Ensure design activities are completed on schedule and meet high standards.
  • Support training and mentoring within the engineering team.
  • Produce detailed HVAC designs for Data Centres, collaborating with sales, technical, and project management teams.
  • Manage and develop engineering resources to meet project needs, ensuring compliance and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams effectively.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering design from concept to detailed design.
  • Maintain quality standards through internal reviews.
  • Build and guide high-performing teams, setting objectives and fostering development.
  • Implement QA processes across projects.
  • Integrate Health and Safety standards into design, complying with CDM regulations.
  • Follow Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 and 14001.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Data Centre mechanical systems is essential.
  • Minimum 6 years in engineering design and project management.
  • Strong mechanical design background across project stages.
  • Experience coordinating with stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Proficiency in HVAC systems for critical facilities, including resilience and advanced cooling systems.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical design for commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Leadership and project management experience.
  • Experience within architectural/engineering or consulting firms.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
