Job summary

SYSTRA in the United Kingdom seeks an Associate (Highways, Development & Infrastructure) to lead highway design delivery on a variety of projects. You will oversee technical outputs, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and drive client relationships across public and private sector clients.

The role emphasizes leadership of up to six engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mentoring junior staff to build a high-performing team within a hybrid

Qualifications

• Qualified civil engineer with appropriate degree and chartered status.
• Experience leading highway infrastructure projects in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of design standards and approvals processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs on mid-large scale highway projects and manage budgets, resources, and timelines.
• Prepare technical outputs and coordinate across disciplines for integrated deliverables.
• Control financial, technical, and project management aspects of civil engineering works.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians on projects.
• Ensure compliance with standards (DMRB/MfS/TSM) and authority approvals.
• Design highway and drainage infrastructure and coordinate with project teams.
• Prepare proposals, scopes, and pricing for new work.
• Develop client relationships and manage expectations.
• Lead client meetings, present updates, and support business development.
• Conduct site visits and monitor progress against specifications.
• Communicate effectively to stakeholders and manage workload distribution.
