Job summary

Christie & Co in Scotland seeks an Associate Director to deliver valuation services for hotels, pubs & restaurants across the UK, supporting healthcare and medical teams. You will value businesses and going concern properties, building relationships with banks, investors and operators, while collaborating with national teams.

You will work with two Scotland-based valuation directors, enjoy autonomy within a trusted advisory brand, and cross-sell with Christie Group colleagues to win business.

Qualifications

  • Real estate degree relevant to valuation sector.
  • Experience in valuation advisory preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tools.

Responsibilities

  • Survey and value properties and trading businesses with inspections.
  • Generate business through emails, calls and market activity.
  • Respond to client enquiries and applicants efficiently.
  • Prepare marketing literature and detailed valuation reports.
  • Generate inspections and meet targets.
  • Develop and liaise with solicitors, accountants and other professionals.
  • Understand accounts and leases.

Associate Director
Department: Hospitality Valuation Services
Purpose of the Role

Provide valuation services across the Hotels/ Pubs & Restaurants sectors whilst supporting Healthcare and Medical teams. Providing advice and valuations on businesses and going concern properties across the Scotland and UK, working as a key member of the valuation team of experts to build strong relationships with major clients, banks, investors, accountants and operators. Our valuation team works alongside the agency, consultancy and capital market teams so able to provide the most informed advice across our range of clients. The role will work alongside two valuation directors based in Scotland with extensive experience across all our sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Surveying and valuing properties and trading businesses and thoroughly inspecting to determine value;
  • Generating business through the use of email, telephone prospecting, individual initiatives and being aware of market activity;
  • Responding efficiently and effectively to direct enquiries from clients and applicants;
  • Preparing marketing literature and detailed reports;
  • Generating inspections;
  • Working to and achieving targets;
  • Developing and liaising with key contacts, including solicitor, accountants and other professional bodies;
  • Understanding Accounts and Leases;
  • Using valuation techniques;
  • Cross-selling Group companies;
  • Dealing with clients in a timely and appropriate fashion;
  • Building internal and external relationships.
About the team

You will work within a team of Valuers and Agents who form a national team of specialist hospitality experts. You will report to the Managing Director, whilst retaining a good level of autonomy. Our brand, company reputation and market knowledge will help you to open doors and become a trusted advisor for clients to rely upon with confidence. You will also work closely with Christie Group company colleagues to cross-sell and gain business.

Relevant Real Estate Degree; Essential

RICS Chartered Status; Essential

A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience; Essential

Exceptional negotiation and communication skills; Essential

Very strong IT skills with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Essential

Knowledge of trade sector and current market trends; Beneficial but not essential

Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations, Estate Agents Act and Money Laundering Regulations; Essential
