Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director Transport Planner to join the Transport Planning & Mobility team in Guildford. The role offers hybrid working, combining in-office and home working, as you lead a range of transport projects across modes and support the development of strategies and business cases from inception to completion.

You will collaborate with senior colleagues to expand work with clients across the UK, drive bids and project programmes, and mentor junior team members while ensuring

Qualifications

• Experience working with local authorities in active travel, public transport, scheme development, transport studies, strategies and appraisals.
• Experience of developing transport focused strategies, plans and policies.
• Experience of working with Local Authority and Combined Authority clients.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
• Ability to deliver presentations and liaise with diverse audiences.
• Project management experience, ability to review client briefs and tenders, develop and contribute to fee proposals and lead project delivery.
• Commercial acumen and ability to support wider team management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or manage a broad range of transport planning projects with team management, budgeting, programming and technical excellence.
• Lead and support in the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmes.
• Support senior colleagues to expand client work across the UK.
• Provide support in securing and delivering work for diverse local clients.
• Lead technical reviews and checking of deliverables within the team.
• Be responsible for financial performance of projects and contribute to the team's commercial success.
• Support development of junior team members as a People Manager or mentor.
• Contribute to WSP's four pillars: People, Clients & Growth, Operations, and Expertise.
