Job Description:

The client prides itself on working within all sectors of the construction and engineering industry. Therefore, this role offers an exciting variation of project exposure on domestic and international projects.

This role would suit experienced Planners with significant experience in Delay Analysis or Senior/Managing Consultants working within delay disputes, as well as current Delay Associate Directors capable of undertaking work independently.

You will gain exposure as an expert witness or supporting one, especially on projects with significant disputes, and may involve preparing for mediation and adjudication, alongside traditional planning duties.

Responsibilities and Duties

Specific duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Forensic analysis in ADR
  • Providing clear, impartial evidence for tribunals (ADR)
  • Managing and developing the planning team
  • Controlling, managing, and reporting on contractual obligations from procurement to final account
  • Determining schedules, monitoring programmes, and assessing risks
  • Writing reports for negotiations and dispute resolutions, including adjudication, mediation, and litigation
  • Providing accurate assessments of progress
  • Participating in business development to generate work and clients

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years as a construction project planner
  • Experience in delay analysis and narrative writing to a high standard
  • Pre- and post-contract planning on large, complex projects
  • Ability to produce and interpret programmes and schedules for live projects
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject
  • Exceptional report writing and persuasive language skills
  • Comfortable in client-facing roles
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Ambitious mindset aligned with the company's growth objectives

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent qualification
  • Membership in professional bodies like CIOB or CIArb (advantageous)
  • Relevant MSc in Engineering or Construction Law and Disputes (advantageous)
