Job summary

WSP is recruiting an Associate Director to join the Environmental Consents nationwide team. You will direct and lead environmental inputs to complex energy and water infrastructure projects, guiding multi-disciplinary teams through the development lifecycle and ensuring delivery to high standards.

You will shape strategy, manage recruitment and bids, and build strong client relationships while expanding WSP’s environmental services across the water sector.

Qualifications

• Relevant environmental / planning degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes.
• Familiarity with other consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments, SSSI Assents.
• Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.
• Proven line management experience.
• Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams.
• Evidence of successfully driving business growth.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments across multiple sectors.
• Direct and oversee recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery and financial management.
• Expand and diversify the water sector offering alongside sector leads and client account managers to win new business.
• Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
• Collaborate with environmental specialists and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
• Lead on and contribute to development of innovative techniques (Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
