Skills and Competencies

Typically, a Moody’s employee working at this level would have between 8 and 10 years of experience. The following are required:

  1. A good level of knowledge and practical application of employee relations and employment law procedures and processes of EMEA countries.
  2. Possesses sound judgement, and has a customer driven, collaborative and hands-on approach, able to identify pragmatic, business focused solutions to problems, with the ability to see the bigger picture and wider implications of actions.
  3. Excellent facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills: able to resolve conflicts and diffuse employee-related issues, concerns, situations.
  4. Understands and knows how to work in a matrixed model - both corporate, functional and geographic, with experience working with a dispersed workforce.
  5. Solid project management background and experience with HR technologies.
  6. Fluency in one or more European language is preferable.

Education

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent evidenced relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

The AVP (Assistant Vice President) - Employee Relations role is responsible for effectively and efficiently supporting managers in the resolution and prevention of employee relations issues. The role will provide advice and expertise to management and HR People Team leaders on performance management, employee discipline, investigations, reductions-in-force, involuntary terminations and other ER matters, primarily for the EMEA region, which includes the UK, and currently approximately 20 other countries.

This role may also support the other regions (the Americas (including LATAM and, the US)), and APAC including India), from time to time, as needed.

The AVP - Employee Relations is responsible for the following advisory and delivery competencies:

  1. Providing guidance to managers about performance management issues, role eliminations, and conducting investigations for certain complex and escalated issues.
  2. Ensuring operational consistency in the execution of ER matters by monitoring and reviewing formal documentation requirements and strategies used when responding to ER enquiries.
  3. Leading planning and execution of performance management, discipline, and terminations (including role eliminations), in the EMEA region, which includes partnering with the ER Regional Lead, business managers, HR Regional and People Business Partners, and Legal, to provide resolutions for escalated or complex issues and concerns.
  4. Partnering and coordinating with internal and external Legal counsel when necessary.
  5. Maintaining, developing and implementing culturally appropriate employee relations policies, procedures and guidelines.
  6. Assisting with ER reporting; analysing data, identifying trends, and working with the ER Team and People Team People Business Partners to recommend, where appropriate.
  7. Communicating and ensuring understanding by managers and employees of relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies and answering non-standard questions by managers and employees as needed.
  8. Conducting needs assessments, designing, and delivering employee relations training for people managers in partnership with ER colleagues, Talent & Organizational Development, and Legal.
  9. Leading and supporting ER projects, programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the team
The AVP - Employee Relations role reports to the VP - Employee Relations role in EMEA, and is part of the Global Employee Relations Team. The Employee Relations function is the Center of Excellence and primary point of contact for business leaders and People Team leaders on high touch matters relating to performance management, employee discipline, reductions-in-force and other involuntary terminations.
