Headway Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Technical Engineer for a UK-based manufacturing business specialising in industrial filtration and separation equipment. The role is office-based with standard hours and progression opportunities.

Working alongside the Technical Manager, you will review requirements, assist quotations, support calculations, liaise with customers and suppliers, and help drive projects from enquiry to delivery. Full training provided.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Practical engineering experience considered.
• Good IT skills and willingness to learn new software.
• SolidWorks 3D knowledge is beneficial.

Assistant Technical Engineer

Office-based | 38.5 hours per week Monday to Thursday: 8am to 4.30pm | Friday: 8am to 3pm

Our client, a specialist manufacturer of industrial filtration and separation equipment, is recruiting an Assistant Technical Engineer for a newly created role.

Working alongside the Technical Manager, the Assistant Technical Engineer will support projects from initial enquiry and quotation through to manufacture and delivery. You will build specialist technical knowledge while developing the coordination and leadership skills to take on greater responsibility.

The Role

As Assistant Technical Engineer, you will:

• Review customer requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Help prepare quotations, proposals, equipment datasheets and bills of materials.
• Support technical calculations and the selection of equipment, materials and components.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and workshop colleagues to keep projects moving.

About You

The Assistant Technical Engineer role could suit someone with an HNC, HND or degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. Relevant practical engineering experience will also be considered, including candidates looking to move from a hands-on position into an office-based role.

You will bring:

• An understanding of mechanical systems, engineering principles and technical drawings.
• A personable, confident approach and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Initiative, a willingness to learn and ambition to progress.
• Good IT skills and the ability to learn new software. An understanding of machining, welding or manufacturing processes would be useful. SolidWorks 3D experience is beneficial but not essential.

Previous filtration experience is not required. Full product training will be provided.
