Headway Recruitment is recruiting an Assistant Technical Engineer for a newly created role in a specialist manufacturer of industrial filtration and separation equipment. This office-based position offers training, mentoring and genuine progression, with structured development from day one.

You will support projects from enquiry to manufacture and delivery, review drawings, help prepare quotations and datasheets, liaise with customers and suppliers, and develop technical knowledge while taking

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and engineering drawings.
• Good IT skills and willingness to learn new software.
• Practical engineering experience preferred.
• Interest in progressing into office-based project work.

Responsabilités

• Review customer requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Help prepare quotations, proposals, equipment datasheets and BOMs.
• Support technical calculations and equipment/material selection.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and workshop colleagues to move projects forward.
• Coordinate technical information, monitor deadlines and highlight issues.
• Take ownership of tasks and support engineering improvements.

Assistant Technical Engineer

Office-based 38.5 hours per week

Monday to Thursday: 8am to 4.30pm Friday: 8am to 3pm

Our client, a specialist manufacturer of industrial filtration and separation equipment, is recruiting an Assistant Technical Engineer for a newly created role.

Working alongside the Technical Manager, the Assistant Technical Engineer will support projects from initial enquiry and quotation through to manufacture and delivery. You will build specialist technical knowledge while developing the coordination and leadership skills to take on greater responsibility.

The Role

As Assistant Technical Engineer, you will:

• Review customer requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Help prepare quotations, proposals, equipment datasheets and bills of materials.
• Support technical calculations and the selection of equipment, materials and components.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and workshop colleagues to keep projects moving.
• Coordinate technical information, monitor deadlines and highlight potential issues.
• Take ownership of tasks, contribute ideas and support engineering improvements.

About You

The Assistant Technical Engineer role could suit someone with an HNC, HND or degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. Relevant practical engineering experience will also be considered, including candidates looking to move from a hands‑on position into an office‑based role.

You will bring:

• An understanding of mechanical systems, engineering principles and technical drawings.
• A personable, confident approach and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• Initiative, a willingness to learn and ambition to progress.
• Good IT skills and the ability to learn new software.

An understanding of machining, welding or manufacturing processes would be useful. SolidWorks 3D experience is beneficial but not essential.

Previous filtration experience is not required. Full product training will be provided.
