Arts Council England is seeking an Assistant (SWB29) to join the South West Area Team in Bristol. The role is fixed-term until 30 June 2027, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working and remote options alongside regular on-site days.

You will support our internal grant making processes, communications and stakeholder management, and coordinate admin support for strategic programmes and place-based development. You’ll manage your own workload and work with colleagues across the South West Area Team.

Job description

Assistant (SWB29)

Contract: Fixed term until 30 June 2027, working 35 hours per week (Arts Council England also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: £28,662 per annum Grade E plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Bristol (The role will be based in Bristol; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week)

We are looking to recruit an Assistant to join the South West Area Team, based in our Bristol office and working as part of the South West Operations Team.

As Assistant you will support the South West Area Team with a range of duties, including support for our internal grant making processes, supporting colleagues in communications and stakeholder management, coordinating admin support for strategic programmes and place-based development, arranging internal and external meetings, and more general administrative support including the maintenance of efficient admin processes.

Within our team you will work closely with other Assistants and the Officer, Operations, and on a day-to-day basis will be responsible for managing your own workload. You’ll also work with colleagues across the South West Area Team to help deliver a wide range of priorities for the cultural sector.

We are looking to recruit an organised individual who is enthusiastic, proactive, can prioritise effectively, and is willing to step in and help where required. It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience in a similar role.
