Job summary

St. Luke's Hospice is seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in a busy, community-focused charity shop in Grays. You will lead a small team of staff and volunteers, drive sales, manage stock and merchandising, and ensure excellent customer service.

Salary: £24,900 per annum, hours 37.5 per week, permanent contract. Right to work in the UK is required. Some weekends/evenings may be needed to support fundraising activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail with sales, stock control and merchandising.
• Supervising or leading a small team including volunteers is desirable.
• Strong customer service and numeracy skills for cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Support Store Manager with day-to-day shop operations and customer experience.
• Supervise and develop shop staff and volunteers and delegate tasks.
• Drive sales, monitor performance and assist with stock, pricing and donations.
• Ensure merchandised, clean, safe shop and adherence to policies.
• Manage cash handling and till reconciliation accurately.
• Support recruitment, training and rotas for staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate on local fundraising activities and promotions.
