Job description

Nobody’s Child is for the free thinkers, the dreamers, and the go-getters. Born in 2015, we’ve spent the last decade creating clothes that feel as good as they look for people that embrace individuality, live with purpose, and want to leave the world a little better than they found it. It’s been 10 years of creativity, growth, and bold ideas, and the values that guide us haven’t changed.

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced and confident Assistant Store Manager to join our iconic Carnaby st store in a full-time capacity. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the performance, culture, and customer experience of one of our most high-profile locations.

A natural leader and brand ambassador, you’ll lead by example on the shop floor, delivering exceptional service while championing our values of sustainability, inclusivity, and conscious fashion. You’ll work closely with the Cluster Manager and wider head office teams to drive commercial performance, develop talent, and ensure operational excellence across the store.

You’ll be passionate about people development, confident in managing performance, and comfortable taking ownership of key business areas. Thriving in a fast-paced flagship environment, you’ll bring a strategic mindset alongside a hands-on approach, inspiring the team to consistently deliver an unforgettable shopping experience while supporting the long-term growth of the brand.

Your Day-to-Day Will Include:
  • Leading, coaching and developing the store team, including Supervisors, Keyholders and Sales Associates, to deliver exceptional customer experiences and strong commercial results.
  • Second in charge, partnering closely with the Store Manager to support store strategy, operational excellence and long-term performance.
  • Owning key people processes, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling and performance management, working collaboratively with Head Office and HR.
  • Managing staffing levels and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely sign-off.
  • Supporting the leadership of store trading performance, analysing KPIs, targets and results, and taking proactive action to drive sales and improve performance.
  • Managing stock and product analysis with a strong commercial lens, identifying risks and opportunities and escalating insights to Head Office where needed.
  • Supporting Visual Merchandising in collaboration with the Creative and Merchandising teams to ensure brand standards and commercial impact are consistently met.
  • Partnering with the Marketing team to support in-store activations, events and local initiatives that drive footfall and community engagement.
  • Overseeing Health & Safety, compliance and operational standards to ensure a safe, well-run and legally compliant store environment.
  • Actively championing Nobody’s Child’s environmental and social responsibility commitments by embedding sustainable practices into daily operations and encouraging both customers and colleagues to make conscious choices.
  • Actively contribute to our company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility by integrating sustainable practices into everyday work. This includes minimising waste, promoting responsible sourcing, supporting our circular economy initiatives, and encouraging customers and colleagues to make choices that align with our sustainability values. Every team member at NC plays a role in helping us reduce our environmental impact and create a positive legacy for our communities and the planet.
What You’ll Bring
  • A genuine passion for responsible, sustainable fashion and a strong alignment with Nobody’s Child values, acting as a confident and authentic brand ambassador.
  • Proven experience inspiring and leading teams to deliver best-in-class customer service within a busy department store or boutique retail environment.
  • Around 3+ years’ experience in a store management or senior leadership role, with a track record of driving sales, improving performance and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with confidence analysing trade, KPIs and stock performance to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management and collaboration with HR partners.
  • A proactive, organised and hands-on leadership style, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced flagship environment and adapt to changing priorities.
