Evans Cycles in Brighton is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in running daily operations, lead the cycling-focused team, and drive sales. You’ll coach staff on product knowledge, standards of service, and merchandising to ensure a top-notch customer experience.

As an Assistant Manager at Evans Cycles, you’ll support the Store Manager in running the store day-to-day – leading the team, driving sales, and delivering the best possible experience for every customer. You’ll combine strong retail management skills with a genuine passion for cycling, inspiring your team to achieve great results while ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
Supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating the team to deliver excellent service and achieve sales targets.
Setting high standards for customer experience and ensuring these are consistently met.
Driving sales by coaching the team on product knowledge, selling techniques, and service excellence.
Overseeing merchandising standards to keep the store well-presented and commercially strong.
Assisting with staff training and development, helping the team grow their skills and knowledge.
Supporting inventory management including stock levels, restocking, and accuracy checks.
Overseeing cash handling procedures and store operations, including opening and closing duties.
Promoting a safe, compliant, and well-organised store environment.
Gathering customer feedback and sharing ideas to improve store performance.
Carrying out administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, and reporting as required.
Previous retail management or supervisory experience (cycling or sporting goods experience is a bonus).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Passionate about customer service with excellent communication skills.
Sales-driven, with experience meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Knowledge and enthusiasm for cycling products is highly desirable.
Organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Computer-literate and confident with administrative tasks.
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts in line with store hours.
