Job summary

Public House Group is opening a new general store in Charlbury and recruiting an Assistant Shop Manager to join the team ahead of opening later this year. You will support the Shop Manager, lead a small team, assist with recruitment, and help ensure smooth daily trading.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in retail, ideally food & beverage.
• Experience leading busy teams and creating a positive working environment.
• Passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.
• Attention to detail with confidence managing day-to-day finances and reporting.
• Highly organised, able to plan your own week and your team’s, and stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, reliable and proactive.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager in running the shop day to day, stepping up to lead the team in their absence.
• Lead, supervise and motivate the shop team, creating a positive and supportive place to work.
• Help with recruitment, inductions, training, coaching and rotas, so the team has the skills to deliver consistently great service.
• Run opening and closing procedures, making sure the shop is always ready to trade.
• Assist with weekly and month-end reporting, stock deliveries and wastage records.
• Keep the shop safe, clean and compliant, including food hygiene, health and safety, fire safety and licensing requirements.
