Job summary

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative seeks an Assistant Service Manager to support people with learning disabilities in Llandrindod Wells. You will be a visible, hands-on leader ensuring a safe, caring service. You’ll work on a rota including weekends and sleep-ins, stepping up when the Service Manager is away. You will lead one-to-ones, appraisals, and team meetings to help residents live independent, meaningful lives.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities in social care.
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care or actively working towards.
• Flexible to work weekends and sleep-ins.
• Strong caring nature to support others to live enriched lives.

• Assist Service Manager in creating a safe, caring, and supportive service.
• Lead day-to-day running of the service in the absence of the Service Manager.
• Provide leadership, monitor performance, conduct one-to-ones and appraisals, and run team meetings.

As an Assistant Service Manager, you’ll play a vital role in making this happen — supporting a great team and helping the people we support to live life on their own terms.

£29,149.91pa and our sleep‑ins at £60 per night and our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll work closely alongside the Service Manager to help create a safe, caring and supportive service for both the people we support and our colleagues. You’ll be a visible and hands‑on presence in the day‑to‑day running of the service, providing support and carrying out duties that reflect the individual needs and requirements of the people we support. You’ll work shifts on a rota basis, which may include sleep‑ins. When the Service Manager is absent, you’ll step up to take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the service. This is an opportunity to lead from the front — providing leadership and management to the team, monitoring performance, carrying out one‑to‑ones and appraisals, and bringing colleagues together through team meetings. Above all, you’ll be driven by one important goal: supporting the people we support to achieve the highest possible levels of independence and live fulfilling lives on their own terms. You’ll help organise and model support in an innovative, person‑centred and flexible way, ensuring that every day is meaningful and making everyday remarkable.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• experience supporting people with learning difficulties in a social care setting
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards)
• a strong caring nature to support others to live an enriched life and fulfil their potential
• a working knowledge and understanding of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice
• flexibility to work shifts and provide cover as required
• afull driving licence - essential and happy to travel for meetings and training
• access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
