Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting an Assistant SENDCO for a busy secondary school within a multi-academy trust rated Good by Ofsted. This full-time, temp-to-perm role starts September 2026 and focuses on supporting SEND provision and inclusive learning for students aged 11–18.

You will work with teachers, parents, and external agencies to implement interventions, monitor progress, maintain accurate SEND records, and uphold safeguarding across the school in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within SEND provision in a school setting.
  • Good understanding of EHCPs, SEND Code of Practice, and inclusive education.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the SENDCO with the day-to-day management of SEND provision.
  • Assisting with EHCP reviews, documentation, and annual review processes.
  • Monitoring the progress of students with SEND.
  • Liaising with teaching staff, parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Supporting the implementation of interventions and targeted support programmes.
  • Maintaining accurate SEND records and pupil data.
  • Helping to promote inclusive teaching and learning practices across the school.
