Job summary

Assistant SENDCO to start September 2026

Royal Greenwich Trust School is looking to appoint a dedicated and professional Assistant SENDCO to join our inclusive and forward-thinking school community. As a Assistant SENDCO, you will:

  1. Support the SENDCO in meeting the school’s statutory duties with regard to students with SEND.
  2. Support students with a range of needs both inside and outside the classroom.
  3. Teach specific groups of students as required in order to ensure that they access the curriculum and meet their academic targets.
  4. Supervise and direct Learning Support Assistants within the SEND provision
  5. Coordinate assessments and support for students with EHCPs in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  6. Complement teachers’ delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, students and school policies and strategies.
  7. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
  8. Provide in-class support for students whose behaviour or needs in the classroom are an obstacle to their achievement and that of others.
  9. Support teaching and other staff in maintaining discipline and following up incidents.
  10. Support the SENDCO in creating a professional culture of high expectations in which students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.
  11. Provide the consistent day to day support necessary to ensure all stakeholders are able to be fully committed to students’ achieving outstanding outcomes.
