Job description

My client is looking for a friendly and professional Assistant Restaurant Manager to join their award-winning team at their 16th-century gastropub located near the historic market town of Woodbridge in Suffolk.

Salary and Benefits

Competitive salary of up to £33,000 - £36,000 per annum plus gratuities (approx £7-9k per annum).

Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year's experience as a Supervisor or Assistant Restaurant Manager at a similar food-led gastropub.

Job Purpose

1. Ensure a happy and motivated FOH team and a positive work environment.
2. Maintain the gastropub's reputation for warmth and excellent service: friendly, down-to-earth, attentive but not overbearing.
3. Take responsibility for all bar functions including ordering, presentation, innovation of drinks, menus, and wine list, ensuring targeted GP is met, and conducting weekly stock takes.
4. Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing and coordinating the running, planning, organizing, training, leadership, and motivation of all Front of House staff to achieve sales, cost, guest service, and satisfaction objectives.
5. Have sole charge of the pub/restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
6. Assist in delivering consistent service levels.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop structured training programs for FOH staff focusing on product knowledge and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with daily/weekly checklists and service procedures.
• Lead staff briefings, emphasizing product knowledge testing.
• Manage cashing up and securing the premises.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas.
• Work with the Restaurant Manager to improve service quality through guest feedback and checklist enforcement.
