Job summary

The Manor Hotel in Meriden is seeking an Assistant Restaurant & Bars Manager to lead hospitality service across the hotel outlets. You will drive guest satisfaction through attentive team leadership, effective communication, and a proactive approach to service standards.

You will oversee breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner operations, ensure menu and wine knowledge alignment, and support events and staff training to upsell where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel or restaurant operation, ideally in a 4-star environment.
• Ability to train others to deliver excellent service.
• Smart and professional appearance with a can-do attitude and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supply and ensure the highest possible level of guest care and service to our guests; internal and external.
• Oversee multiple outlets ensuring that service delivery and customer care to both hotel and external guests is maintained at all times.
• Monitor that all beverage and food items are prepared and served according to company standards and within statutory regulations; promote additional sales where possible.
• Work alongside the Restaurant & Bars Manager to oversee all operations of the restaurant and bars including staffing, sales, rotas, budgets, wage control, scheduling and holidays.
• Manage all restaurant and bar areas, ensuring smooth running of breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner operations.
• Acquire a full working knowledge of the menu, tariff and wine lists and the hotel’s food & beverage service policies.
• Monitor standards of work, working practices, productivity and customer care.
• Allocate jobs and stations, ensuring tasks are completed.
• Deputise in the absence of the Restaurant & Bars Manager.
• Assist with greeting, seating and order taking; help guests with menu selection and wine requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with staff and management.
• Analyse key areas of improvement using KPIs and performance targets.
• Assist with organising and running special events (weddings/private dinners).
• Assist with staff training; inductions, safety, and upsell development.
• Support the implementation of new procedures and standards where applicable.

Key responsibilities for the Assistant Restaurant & Bars Manager are;

• Check and monitor that all beverage and food items are prepared and served according to company standards and within statutory regulations. Promote additional sales/up selling whenever possible but always within the social responsibilities of the licensee.
• Work alongside the Restaurant & Bars Manager to oversee all operations of the restaurant and bars including, staffing, sales, employee rotas, departmental budgets, wage control, scheduling and holidays.
• Manage all restaurant and bar areas, ensuring the smooth running of breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner operations.
• Acquire a full working knowledge of the menu, tariff and wine lists together with a full knowledge of the hotel’s food and beverage service policies and procedures.
• Monitor the standards of work, working practices, productivity and standards of customer care of all employees within the department.
• Allocate jobs and 'stations' checking that tasks have been completed before, during and after service periods.
• Deputise in the absence of the Restaurant & Bars Manager.
• Assist with greeting, seating and order taking. Help guests with menu item selection and wine requirements; always anticipating their needs.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with staff (e.g. pre-session team briefings) and senior management/colleagues.
• Analyse key areas of improvement by utilising KPI’s and other performance targets.
• Help with organising and running of special events. (e.g. weddings/ private dinners).
• Assist with staff training; departmental inductions, job skills, safety, statutory requirements and development to encourage them to upsell where possible.
• Support the implementation of new procedures, practices and standards where applicable.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
