Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited is helping to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to support a major National Grid infrastructure programme from our Manchester office. The role involves hands-on mentoring within an experienced commercial team, with site visits to Birmingham 1–2 times per month and regular office-based work.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor.
• Good knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop.
• Able to work from Manchester office two days per week and travel to Birmingham for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the commercial management of NEC contracts.
• Supporting cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control.
• Preparing and reviewing applications for payment, valuations, and change management.
• Assisting with subcontract administration and commercial documentation.
• Producing accurate reports and maintaining project records using Microsoft Excel.
• Working collaboratively with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
• Attending site visits to gain practical project experience and support project delivery.
